1964 Pontiac GTO Convertible
The 1964 Pontiac GTO was born when a young engineering team led by John DeLorean recognized that Pontiac’s new mid-size A-body could accept the division’s powerful 389ci V-8, creating a fast, lively performance car unlike anything else on the market. DeLorean and his team effectively created the original muscle car and ignited a new era of American performance.
Assembled at Pontiac’s Fremont, California facility, this GTO is finished in Nocturne Blue over a Dark Blue interior, complemented by an Ivory power-operated convertible top. The car is presented as a well-sorted driver with select modifications and is equipped with desirable features including dual exhaust, power steering, and the rarely optioned Super Turbine 300 automatic transmission. Notably, this example was owned by NFL quarterback Philip Rivers during his active playing years with the San Diego Chargers, from 2006 to 2014.
One of approximately 6,644 GTO convertibles produced for the 1964 model year, the car is offered with a spare set of redline tires mounted on steel wheels, PHS Documentation, comprehensive receipts, two sets of keys, a car cover, a clean California title, and original 1964 magazines highlighting the specification and release of the Pontiac GTO.
